Nur-Sultan will host the World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference (MC-12), the global international trade event, which will take place at the EXPO Business Center from June 8 to 11, 2020.
Such an important WTO event will be held for the first time in a country that is not a founder of the organization.
MC-12 is expected to be visited by ministers of trade from 164 member countries and 20 observer states of the World Trade Organization, as well as major experts in international trade around the world.
The total number of its participants will exceed 5-6 thousand people.
Astana EXPO-2017 National Company was selected as the main operator of MC-12 given its significant and successful experience in major international events, available infrastructure necessary for holding the highest congress and exhibition events of any format, and its material readiness.
The Ministerial Conference meetings and events will be hosted by facilities of the EXPO Business Center, in particular the Congress Center, International Exhibition Center, Hilton Astana, Astana International Financial Center.
It is to be recalled that an agreement to host the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference in Nur-Sultan was signed between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Trade Organization this October 29 in the course of the visit paid by Kazakhstan Minister of Trade and Integration, Bakhyt Sultanov, to Geneva.
The Ministerial Conference is the WTO highest governing body, which meets once every two years. The Ministerial Conference has such powers as to make decisions on all issues under multilateral trade agreements, including the approval of new disciplines governing the international trade.
